Here's a quick summary of what you need to know about our league, which is just completing its 1st season:
The league consists of a number of teams at the same general skill level playing a season of matches against other teams in the league. The season takes place over a period of roughly 8 weeks, depending on the number of teams in each league. It is designed at a length to play around 1 match per week on average.
League scheduling is very flexible to accommodate many situations. So if two players from a team are leaving the island for a couple of weeks, they can play more games before or after this period. Substitutions can be used in situations where a player may be lost for a longer time due to injury, or changing life events in general. Substitutes should ideally be at the same skill level as they player they are replacing.
Teams consist of 2 women and 2 men, and stay together for the entire season.
Matches consist of 10 games total, 5 for each player. Players will play two mixed games with one of their opposite gender teammates, one women's or men's game, and then two more mixed games with their other teammate. Team chemistry is a definite plus!
Matches will be played at Holua, and can be scheduled for almost any time Holua is open. There may be some limited availability at night, or during certain events.
Any questions? You can email us at holuaracquetandpaddle@gmail.com or bigislandrph@gmail.com. Although the league page is hosted on the Big Island Rogue Pickleball Hui site, this is not a Hui league, but a cooperative effort by many in support of Holua Racquet and Paddle!
